I adopt conversation analysis to examine the ways in which participants with intimate relationships sequentially co-construct (dis)alignment and (dis)affiliation through various interactional resources (e.g., question-and-answer, silence, intra/inter-turn code-switching).
Particularly focusing on romantic couple, these general questions guide my research:
What social and/or affective meanings do romantic couples convey in conversation?
How does the unfolding negotiation of (dis)alignment and (dis)affiliation orient to, or challenge, the relational expectations?
What are some meanings beyond the negotiation of (dis)alignment and (dis)affiliation?
